“As an executive producer for this film, I had the honor and privilege of being able to view it ahead of the general public. This film is genius. It hit home on so many different levels. I am a retired Marine, and a veteran of OEF/OIF. But this film did not only hit home for me as a veteran; it hit home for me as a father, as a husband, and as a human being. I think anyone who watches this film will be able to connect to it, and be motivated to accomplish their dreams and goals; no matter how difficult or challenging they may be. Hats off to Max, Julian, and everybody involved in this film. It’s a must see for all. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will be inspired. Six out of five stars!!!”

“This is one of the best stories of community coming together to support each other. The focus is on an injured military Veteran and his family, reincorporating in the their community, and how the members of the community come together to support with their challenges.

Unlike many films involving our military and Veteran generation, this is an incredibly positive story of community coming together and uplifting each other. Incredible story! 5 stars!”

“Julian was a gripping story about a soldier that went to war and came back without his legs. It’s better to be just left dead. Or is it? Is there a way to find value in life after trauma like that? Julian was not just about the reality of war and loss but of finding joy and success in a new way. Julian came back and continued down another path. You have to watch the movie to find out what he did.”

“ ‘Julian’ offers a rare glimpse into the life of a combat-wounded Marine, sharing the in-depth effects that civilians might never realize exist.  The director, a veteran himself, carefully  guides the audience through an understanding of a seemingly ordinary path by an extraordinary individual.  At the conclusion, viewers will carry away a profound sense of gratitude and admiration.

An effervescent and optimistic young man whose world is irrevocably changed by his amputations, Julian finds himself on a journey to restore a sense of normalcy to his life and family.  Accustomed to being the strong protector, he searches for a deeper meaning in his post-injury role as a husband, father, and provider.

Through Ju Jitsu, Julian unexpectedly discovers a new challenge that provides him with a refreshed perspective and broadens his dimensions.  The film masterfully captures the essence of his day-to-day struggles, doubts, anger, setbacks, and subtle humor.  His wife’s unfailing devotion and the support of those around him are woven into the narrative, giving a sense of the far-reaching impact of his battle.  Ultimately it is Julian's perseverance that prevails in this truly inspirational and touching family story.”

This is a very moving and inspiring story, told with skill and care. Five *****

What a genuine touching documentary about continuing life after military service… it’s feel-good and bitter-sweet at the same time. I found it amazing that there were so many substories behind the bigger story. I hope to see more documentaries like this one.
